Do any of you have info on the wheels for these bikes? Is the front wheel on the XS1100 the same as the XS650, XS750, or XS850? What about the back wheels?

Hi Marty
Lots of those models have the same wheels, don't know about the bearings, hubs, or axles.
1978
650E front laced takes a 3.50/19 tire
rear laces chain drive takes 4.00/18 tire
750E / SE 19" cast front takes 3.25/19" tire
rear is 18" (hmmm) 4.00/18 tire
XS11 front is 19" takes a 3.50/19 tire
rear is 17" takes a 4.50/17" tire
(Specials take 16" rear wheel.)
1980
650G 19" cast front takes a 3.50/19 tire
850G 19" front same
850G rear same as XS11 std - takes a 4.50/17" tire
1982
XJ750 cast front takes a 3.25/19 tire (swoopy spokes)
rear same size as the XS11 Special 16" but hub might be diff.
You can find this info on the Empart parts fiche site (Yamaha site, sometimes down, sometimes slow):

The XJ1100 wheels are a direct interchange. They are the same size as the Special's wheels. I have a set on my 80SG, and I think they really look great. There are no differences, they will bolt right up. They have the curved spokes, if you are not familiar with them. I have a set available...

John, I wish i knew you had an extra set about 2 days ago. I just ordered a set of 82 xj1100 wheels for my 81 special. $60.00 shipped, was the price. I am going to bead blast them, then paint them or have them anodized. I may just spend a week with a dremel and see if they will polish up to a nice shine.
They will not be going on my bike this season. That will be slated for next winters project list:
Repaint frame
install XJ1100 wheels
polish everything else
progessive shocks
This past winter the bike got:
new 4-2 Jardine pipes
K&N jet kit
progressive fork springs
Billet aluminum starter & horn buttons
At this rate, I will be done with it completely by next winter. Then i can focus more on my 2nd gen mazda rx7 with a chevy 4.3l, and a NOS fogger!
This little car is going to be a sleeper from hell, and lots of fun. It is already a fun car to drive, but it is just underpowered with the stock engine. The 1.3l rotary engine makes Lots of Power for its size, but the chassis / brake/ steering of the 88 rx7 can handle much more power. With the NOS i may blown an engineevery no and then, but S-10 and Astro van engines are plentiful & cheap.
The quest for power on a budget continues....full Speed Ahead!Bill Woods

I have a '79 XS650 with mags. I wondered if the wheels would work on any other machine. The 650 is chain drive with a disc brake at the rear. I know the front brake rotors are the same as the XS1100 and the calipers are the same as on the standard.Marty (in Mississippi)
