    Stamped number on casing

I have 80 XS 1100 Special the number on the casing is 8J6-011276.
Does that number mean anything? I seems that it did, but can't remember.
    Thanks

Are you sure it doesn't read 3J6-011276? I ride an 80 SG also, and the Ser. No. starts with the 3J6 prefix. My Ser. No is 3J6-009196. Check it against the number stamped into the right side of the steering head tube, and the data sticker on the steering head tube also.

      BTW,

If the engine hasn't been swapped, the engine # and frame # should match.

      LOL

Whoops... That is a 3J6. Does it mean anything special, or just another number?
        Thanks

Slide, that's your serial number, and it should match your frame, as Randy sez. It also indicates which numbered bike your is. AFAIK, the first of that model built is 3J6-000101

so yours is the 11,176th one built.
