The chrome strip is a 3M product for accenting cars, super pliable strip of plastic chrome with a self adhesive backing. Think thats 1/8" but the store had wider, (up to 2" I think). I had to cut it at an angle to get the part where it drops down, but it does transition the colors really well. A 15' roll of it was about $17...well worth it so far. (Just don't try to move it once its on, it'll take paint off.)
As to the clubmans, I had them on the GS1000 and wasn't all that bothered by them, my problem is shelling out $70+ for wide centered bars cause the standard tank is soo big, (and there only seems to be a couple online places that make'em. Found a site that make them wide with only 2" of drop instead of 4", so they may be a more comfy option, Hyde 'M' bars might work as well, just haven't seen any on a bike in person yet.
The rear sets would make my day, but the few producing them for the XS are rather pricey. Maybe a collective family Xmas gift, (bought by me)...
