  • Aftermarket Master Cylinder

The master cylinder assembly on my bike is pretty much a lost cause. There's cracks in the reservoir, etc and it most likely needs to be replaced. I was browsing ebay for a replacement but stumbled across several aftermarket "generic" alternatives. This there any reason why replacements such as these wouldn't work?:

Namely, the first one because it is the most affordable. I assume all I would have to do is take off the old master cylinder and plug the old brake line into the new MC.

Just be careful of the piston size, larger bore is for dual front brake rotors, smaller for single. Then there is the mirror mount to consider. Left or right handed threads.

There is a compatibility listing for the eBay master cylinder. If you run it for XS1100 it says it's OK. If you run it for XJ650 Maxim it says OK.

This can not be, as the XS1100 is dual caliper and the XJ650 is single caliper. I would leave that one alone!

Being the generous guy that I am, and coming from an ARMY family, I happen to have an extra master cylinder with brake lever and switch. I dunno if it's good or not, but that's for you to decide. Send me the price of shipping, and she's your's.
