I've got my own. I thought that Kat had sent them to Randy, and that's the last I remembered. I know Randy isn't on here any more and assumed he sent it to someone else??

I was just asking because a couple threads about shimming have come up recently.

              Shim Library

I do not know what the shim library is exactly. So what is it and who is the librarian and how does it work? Looks like I am going to have to check some out. In the middle of adjusting a set of vales on a 1980G.

              Thanks, Mike

If you ever find it. I might have a few doners for it. Once you get to a certian point you will never go back.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

Yup, I'm still here once in a while. Mostly I watch for ridiculous questions and try to answer them with sarcastic remarks.

The library by nature becomes useless, filled with more of the larger shims as time goes by. Periodically I would sell the large ones to replenish with small ones. Even that got to be a chore. I gave the last dozen or so shims to Ben with Swamp Thing.

Tod, I make you nervous? I'll take that as a compliment.

                            Shim Library

I have a 1980G that the lash is a little too small. Intakes are .002-.0025 (ideal .004-.006) The exhausts are at .007 (ideal is .008-.010). The intakes are a little further off than the exhaust.

I have no shims and would like to have some in hand when I begin adjustment. I found a selection of K&L shims on Bike Bandit for $161 + shipping. They also offer 5 packs for $34.

I bought a small starter kit online a few years back and I've been adding to it as I tear down my parts engines. I've tried helping some others out but some haven't been so cooperative at sending me the shims they removed to replace what I sent them so I kinda been keeping it to myself.

I think this is the kit I got. It was about $50 cheaper then though.
