  • Happened across another member selling on CL

I had the 850 for a while and had some good times but it started having a few issues and it was time for us to go our separate ways. Just stuff minor stuff really so I put it up on craigslist and a man came by with a pocket full of money and he wanted the bike more then I so the deal was done. I think it went to a good home. He is going to ride it to California.

As you all know Ive been messing around with my 81 1100 for some time now trying to get it right and on the road again. Just when I think I have it all together again I take it for a little ride and it shows me how good of a bike it could be for about ten miles when the trans bolt backed out and it sounded like the trans was going to eat its self.

At the time it sounded bad but knowing now what it was I think Im still close to getting that bike on the road again, but when I got home I was bored and had had some money from the guy that bought that 850 so I decided to look on craigslist to see if there were any xs1100's listed. I then came across a red special that had some mods for a little out of my price range. Well everything in my price range was junk, but I thought what the heck I will go look at it anyways. I called the next day and went out to look at it after work. I had the money on me but never really thought that I would get the bike. I didnt bring a ramp or tiedowns. We met and he seemed like good people and we chatted about his bike a little and he mentioned the site and TC. I thought that he was a member when I saw the spin on oil filter mod. We talked a little more and he lowered his price a little but I needed a bit less so I made an offer at what I sold the 850 for and he took it.

Im now the happy owner of GREENGOON3's bike. He was even nice enough to ride it to the house for me.

    Congrats!!
Time to change your signature! LOL!

You're becoming more of an addict than I am.

George (GreenGoon) still wants to get together for a group ride with us. Maybe this fall when it cools off some and we all get our bikes running good. LOL.

When the bolt gets here in the mail, I'll PM/text you and set up a time to drop it off.

On a different note, I'm planning on heading up to DPotter's in MD this weekend to get me some saddle bags. YEAH!

Are those bars bigger than the stock special ones? I may be interested.
Maybe one day when I ride over, I can line them up and see what they'd be like on my SG.

              Parts! You got extra parts?

I was reading his write up and he(greengoon) said he changed out the seat, did you get all those extra parts? ie. how about the king/queen seat for the SG?
Don't get me wrong, I like the stock seat, but my azz isn't as small as it used to be and it might fit in the king seat a little better.

Hey George, if I didn't want to keep my saddleman double bucket, I would trade you. I want to keep it for the wife to ride though. I am trying to find a stock seat now so I can put it on and send my seat to get redone for the rally. I don't want to be without a seat. I am so addicted to riding this bike that I would go into DT's. If anyone has a stock seat, I am looking for one.

I got some parts but left the other seat but he still has it and will hold on to it for one of us to pick up. The seat is kind of like Dennis bike with a back rest.

hey George, I have a set of bigger (taller and more of a bend) than the original buckhorns. They were on my xs750, I didn't like them cause of the wrist position. You can have them if you want. Here they are.

                        Hi George,
writing as one fat-arse to another, you won't like it.
Yes, your rear end will fit right in there but it can't move.
Being locked into place and unable to shift position gets real uncomfortable real quick.

And as was pointed out, your man parts will get squashed against the tank. My bike had one on it when I bought it. I rode it on a BRP trip like that. The seat got gone immediately afterwards.
