    carb question

1980 xs1100sg, all stock and original. do the idle mixture screws regulate the amount of air or the amount of fuel allowed into the carbs? does backing them out increase or decrease flow? what is the optimum number of turns out ? thanks

They regulate fuel, turning out is richer, in is leaner. A good place to start is about 2 1/2 to 3 turns out.

ALL scoot carbs, two-stroke included, if mixture screw between cyl. and carb=fuel. If mixture screw between carb and filter intake=air. One air, one fuel, which puts adjustment directions opposite for rich or lean.
