  • Bike stand for those with Kerker pipes

What do you use to work on the bike without taking off the pipes.
Or even if you do take the pipes off, how do you hold the bike upright for an oil change etc.
Any good examples or ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks, JG

If you have engine guard bars a couple of small jack stands under them works pretty well. I just rolled the bike up onto the right stand off of the side stand and then just pushed the left stand under with my foot.

With the Mac 4 into 1 on The Hornet I can temporarily bolt the center stand on and use it to work on the bike. It will fit in the down position, it just won't fold up because of the exhaust.

I've seen a few mentions on this forum of Kerker exhausts and not using the centrestand, I assumed it was a personal choice of the owners.

I'm now beginning to realise you aren't 'sposed to fit a centrestand with a Kerker, I wonder why mine fits Ok

I got my Kerker second hand without any instructions

Has anyone else fitted a centrestand with one?

Most 4 into 1 pipes come out from under the bike behind where the center stand mounts. Yours must turn out ahead of there.

When I ordered my Mac it said that the center stand was retained, but I was lied to. It can only stay if the muffler isn't installed.

Here is the best pic of the SG I recently sold with Kerker and a centerstand.

My bike came with no center stand.
It has a 2 1/2 inch header pipe.
It may be possible to put on a center stand???
              I had never considered it.
DXSER your pipe looks similar to mine. Yours has a stand.
              Thanks,

On my SF the cross bar on the center stand hits the muffler on the Mac and won't let it go up where it's supposed to. It holds the legs down about 2" off the ground.

The SG had a Kerker on it when I got it but no center stand. I didn't try to put one on it until I had switched it to the 4 into 2.

I have the 2 1/2 Kerker on my 79 Standard and the centerstand works fine with that exhaust. I removed my centerstand and modified the right hand frame bracket so it can be installed/removed with the exhaust on the bike. Otherwise, yes, you will need to remove the exhaust to install the centerstand. I only install the stand to do service to the bike, I don't like it there riding the bike, it clangs around over every hard bump.

This is the best photo I have that shows the Kerker with the center stand. It was taken a few years ago, last winter I put my spaghetti pipe on it.

I have a line on a center stand.
From what I have heard, I should buy it.
I will let you know how it goes.

Yes mine looks identical, I can ride off the edges of the tyre tread without grounding the stand so I considered it not too low, but it does look a little lower than my other bikes' centrestands with different exhausts.

My 4 into 1 Jardine came with a L shaped bracket that is mounted in the side stand side of the bike to limit the double stand's upward movement. All of the new Jardine headers I have bought do have this included. It does keep the center stand a bit lower but one could always shorten it a bit. I can take a pic tomorrow if it would help.

I dont think I need the photo, I just needed the information that the side stand would mount with these pipes.
I always got the impression that four into one equaled no center stand.
When I get the stand I will re post to let you know what I had to do to make it work.
Thanks again to all for the info.
