      Out on the road today! Sync'd the carbs this morning and went for a ride. Runs great! I still need to change the fork seals and replace the rear shocks. I havent decided if I want to leave her "rat bike rough" or keep going with new pipes and new paint.

      First bike was an: 1978 XS1100
      Second bike is an FJR1300.
      Now I'm restoring a '79 XS1100.

        Hmm, something is missing in this pic that would make that bike safe to ride. Can't quite put my finger on it . . .

          Your scoot looks pretty sweet. I really like the look of a stock airbox. IMHO, the lines and looks of a stock bike are best. Mine is bone stock, with the exception of aftermarket mufflers. Someday I'll get some stock looking type. There should be a square headlight out there if you ant that look. Good work on getting it in the breeze!

            Twin 55 watt lights were cheaper than the stock headlamp. Brighter too!

              Did you put your finger on it yet? What, seatbelts?

                Those headlights look interesting . . . Are there plans to go back to stock blinkers and headlight?

                  I wonder why Yamaha did not use the better-looking "carmine red" used on the same-year 750, instead of the macho maroon and ruby red.

                    Oh, you have just struck a nerve with the purests Although, I tend to agree. I redid the paintjob on mt 78E as soon as I could get around to it. Maybe things would have been different if I was the original owner...

                      The macho maroon is sooooo boring parked next to a carmine red ;

                        Hi Rush,
                        Those headlights are very functional. I think it would look better if you found or fabricated some sort of cowl or fairing around them which would give you a place to hide the wires too. I am not a big fan of mini indicators one time where bigger is better

                          The new paint scheme is done. Nice thing about white is it will show if the tank ever starts to leak!
