  • xs1100 vaccum petcocks

I'm new to this, and know that asking about vaccum petcocks been heard probably 1000 times, but did follow directions from XJ bikes and cleaned and rebuilt petcocks on my 1979 XS1100 standard. Question, said to align small slot hole in plastic spacer to bottom rear of petcock. My spacer had just small hole which I aligned with small hole in petcock housing but is towards the top is that correct.

The proper diaphragm orientation should be explained in the pictures here...

There is a small hole in the body of the petcock that that hole should align with. Also, don't forget to put the springs back in. I did and now I have to re-do it as it is not vacuum operated any more.

WOW, now that's a tech tip!

Is there anyway to get that link posted to our tech pages?

(I know that'd be like stealing, but WOW, that's a WRITE UP!)

It almost inspires me to go clean my petcocks so that they are that good.

                Xs11 petcock rebuild

Thanks for the help. My spacers are different than the one in picture and aligned to the top of small hole in petcock body & small hole in diaphragm and spacer match together. All Together running great .
