The stuff for rust, etc. is a 70% acetone 30% auto-trans oil mix. It will work BETTER than ANY store bought item. That with heat/cool for the head/studs SHOULD help get them out.
And Yeah, I try NOT to volunteer anymore.

I was able to break up a broken extractor in a broken exhaust stud on a 97 Honda Accord. Apparently extractors don't do anything but break unless you remedy the reason the bolt broke in the first place...

Hey. Go out and pick up a set of "reverse drill bits". 60% of the time they work every time for broken bolts.

Or I can drop mine off for ya if you still need to drill out studs.
            1) Fire up Internet Explorer
            2) http://www.yahoo.com
            3) type "www.mapquest.com" into the Yahoo search page.
            4) go about day as VP managing multi-million dollar financial contracts.

+1 on that. Harbor Freight has a cheap set in a metal case. When I bought mine, that's the only place I found them.

So the drilling/tapping didnt go trouble free. While tapping one of them stripped out. Looks like its time for a helicoil. Can anyone tell me how they are measured? Are the 8m sets 8m outside inserts or are they for 8m original bolts?

They are measured based off the thread and pitch of the bolt. If you're using metric, you find a insert for the stud you want to thread into the insert. You basically epoxy the helicoil in, and it's good to go.

had this same thing happen to me with my goldwing. I ended up going out and buying a extractor set and the whole shabang. wasnt a waste of money cause I have now used it 4 times and it saves my ass every time. Takes awhile but when you get it out you are happy.

Heli-coils are not normally epoxied in.You tap the hole with an STI tap(heli-coil tap), then install the heli-coil and remove the little tang from the bottom coil. It won't come out easy after that.

This project got bad tonight. Realized one of the broken studs is right behind the frame so the only option now is to pull the motor/head and Im just going to take it to a shop.
