  • Exhaust bolts

Can someone post a pic of the OEM exhaust bolts and washers that fasten the rear of the exhaust on a 80-81 Special. I seem to be missing something on mine. There is that big hole in the mount that looks like it accommodates some kind of grommet. This bike I'm working on did not have that. And I have never really paid much attention to the actual hardware.

Yep, there sure is. HERE is the part.

You have to look at the Stand - Footrest detail in the parts fiche.

        Hi tarzan,
you should be able to kludge up something to do the job.
A piece cut off a kickstart rubber with a bolt through it and two fender washers would be my first thought.

              Thanks guys
I went ahead and put an offer on two of those from the first link. About half what hes asking. Andreas sent me a pm. Maybe he will have the whole brackets.

I was just thinking, maybe I could use a couple of those bushings from a stabilizer bar from a car?

IIRC, the rubber bushing is an hour glass shape so once pressed in, it can not fall out. If you look at the bracket, it should have a smaller diameter in the center of the bushing hole.

The purpose is to isolate exhaust vibration from the footrest bracket. You should be able to use any type of rubber sleeve, and rubber pads where the metal washers meet the bracket.

I need the bracket too. I'll come up with something.

Both. The midnight was in pieces and missing a lot of parts. The SG I am using as donor had some goofy strap steel barely holding the Mac pipes up.
