  • Mpg.

Well my first 2 test show that the non ethanol fuel is different from one place to another. 20 miles away I can get non ethanol average mpg. 26-28, 40 mi. out I get non ethanol averages 38-39 ? ? Two tries so far, first was 22-25 and 38-39 mpg. I'll check my plugs in another 50 mi. then I'll have 200 mi. on my new BP6ES gapped at 30.

From my experience with measuring MPGs, they can very a LOT. Because our tanks are so small in order to get a good measure you really need to trip the odometer at full and ride until you hit reserve. Re-fill and repeat a few more times to average out error and differences in riding conditions and variances in tank filling.

My typical millage commuting to work and back is about 32 MPG but getting out for a day long ride I could average 39-40 MPG. Riding conditions make the difference, much more than the fuel.

In stead of counting MPG I count SPM (smiles per mile).

My experience the ethanol will give less mpg. The non ethanol will give better mpg. trying to find the best mpg. is driving me nuts. Here in Wi. we get what they call 34 boutique blends depending on time of the year and the companies that supply it. I have a hard time with finding the non ethanol fuel from 20 mi. out gives me about 10 mpg. less than the non ethanol at a station 40 mi. out of town ? ? ?
By the way anything that uses gas and is older than 1998 should not use ethanol, due to the O-rings and other seals were never meant for ethanol.

Average about 32, sometimes more and sometimes less depending on conditions and my wrist twist.

On both my 11's, whatever gas I throw at her, she never gets less than 35mpg, unless riding into a headwind for an extended period of time.

I think you're in a unique situtaion there in WI with the ethanol mixes they throw at you depending on the time of the year.
If I were you I'd try looking into additives that are specifically designed for ethanol mixes and read the labels and see if that may be the way to go instead of driving 40 miles out of your way to find non-ethanol gas.

Well going out 40 mi. started with my 88 BMW K100LT and working about 10 miles from this town Whitewater, Wi. Started with a trip the wife and I took to New Glarus, Wi. with a Micro Brewery nice trip bike loaded with beer and ice found I was in need of fuel, filled up in WW, big tank on those K bikes. Got home. Back and forth to work and needed gas, filled up in town here w/ethanol checked the mpg., what the hey 52 mpg. normally 40-42. I always reset the odometer, next time from work I went back to WW. and same mpg.50-52. Been many bikes since that K and all got pretty good mpg. on the Milwaukee gas but again happened to be out in WW. on one of the XS650s ( 17 front and 30 rear chain wheels ) 52 on the way out and 62 on the way back. I've 5 5 gal. plastic jugs and 6 2 gal. May wait until the lumber wagen needs gas. I run the lesser fuel out of my jugs and make a road trip. I had kind of forgotten about this for a few years I/we have not headed out towards WW.
I've tried Seafoam, Lucas, and blue Stabil for E-gas, if it helped it was not much.
You have any other suggestions to make this E-gas better.

                          Thank You Done };~)

OK ! I've done it ! The non E fuel from 40 miles out averaged 31.69 mpg. in the lumber wagon, Ford Freestyle FWD very easy on the throttle trying to not exceed 2K on the tach as much as possible. Normal under these same conditions 28-30 mpg. In town normal was 18.5 to 19 mpg., now average 23-24.5. Seems it might be worth it to drive 40 miles out to fill up 35 gal. of jugs and fill up with this fuel ?

I know this is a stupid question but how do you tell if the gas has ethanol? I just use what they have at any station but would like to stay away from the ethanol if possible. Does it say it on the pumps?
