It will sputter a little until it gets fully warmed up. They are a little cold blooded. It will need to be fully warmed up to set the carbs too.

OK good to remember. Also noticed that 3+4 are nice and hot right off the bat and 1+2 aren't so I'm going to guess that's syncing also. How long do they usually take to warm up?79 SF
Wow, did I just give advice? should I be doing that?

Mine usually takes about 10 minutes to get warmed up to where it idles up where it's supposed to.
The sync will make a lot of difference as well as getting the idle mixture right.Greg

Is it absolutly the problem? No. But it needs to be done right first before you can further diagnose any issues.Nathan

Well took the bike out riding just now. fixed the pickup coil issue. Yes Greg both wires were messed up so they are fixed now. Then to top it off went for what I am going to refer to as ride #1:
#1: going down block everything fine turned corner all of a sudden bike jumped in RPM and wouldnt go down. Gave me the symptom that throttle stuck so I killed the bike checked throttle all clear no kinks. Started bike again and this time went straight to high RPM. So I got it home parked it unhooked fuel tank checked everything to make sure it is all ok. All is fine.
Ride #2:
#2: going down block all fine revving perfectly shifting is fine turns fine handles fine took a couple turns then go to hit the brakes (which btw before someone chimes in they were working perfectly on ride #1) and nothing. Very squishy on front so I pumped them and they worked then so I am suspecting I got air in there?! In all my years riding I killed the bike turned in to avoid car. All is good. Pulled into driveway and for some reason the clutch lever seemed frozen. Wouldnt get out of first at all. Turned off the bike moved the bike forward a little and all is fine.
Bike is now parked and sitting till I get the brakes fixed 100% so thank god I have tomorrow off.
My question is what caused the high RPM all of a sudden? Brake lines I suspect air so I will deal with that and what is up with the clutch all of a sudden freezing on me? Do I not have enough oil in it?
Feedback is really needed for this.
Thanks guys. Greg have fun with this one.79 SF
