1979 1100 standard - replaced engine, using carb set from original engine. fires up seems to run/idle well, gas flowing from air box side of carbs. it seems to be coming from a hole above a jet on 3 of the carbs. Why and what to do about it?

You have at least one sticking float. Start by tapping the float bowls with the handle of a screwdriver. If they still flood, you will want to be sure the float gasket is trimmed to the edge of the bowl, so the float can not catch on it. Also make sure the float seats are good and clean.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!
