The springs were purchased from a local shop I like. This is for my 1980 XS650 but it applies to our 1100s! I wanted Barnett springs and they said their book does not show them for a 650 twin. (yes its the same spring- didnt know that 3 months ago) So he ordered me Clutch Factory springs. 20% stronger than stock. I put them in while there was snow on the ground. Got the bike out 3 weeks ago and the clutch slips much worse! Any gear above 6 grand I could rev the motor going down the road in gear it slipped so bad. So then I drain my fresh Meijer brand diesel oil and replace with Valvoline cycle oil. Still slips. So- I research and find Aug 1979 and later XS650 and every year XS1100 take same springs. I have some unused new EBC springs I did not use in my 1100 because I read they were cheap- so theyve been hanging on the wall for a year- and the XS1100 got Barnetts. I decided to install the EBCs since I have them. Look at the pic: 6 Clutch Factory brand on the left. 6 EBC on the right.
The Clutch Factory website calls this same P # for XS650 AND XS1100! If it slipped this bad in my little twin they would be worthless in an 1100!!! Dont go with Clutch factory brand springs in your 1100S! They are even made in the USA- cost me $16. I know theyll refund my $$ and my little twin NO LONGER SLIPS!!!!!!!!!!!!~
