Interesting, my old gap adjuster just told me my new adjuster is trash. The gap I thought I had 28 checked with the wire adjuster in my tool box since I was 16 showed the plugs gap to average 36. Re-adjusted the new BP6ES with the old wire gapper and smoother, no choke needed 70°F. Got 12 mi. on at little throttle, 30-50 mph. will run a bit more but feels much better and it felt good before but better now. Pics of the old and new adjusters w/plugs BP7ES gapped to wide.

I dont trust the round ones. Ive seen too many get worn down or grooved. I like my go/no-go feeler gauges.

I've used those wire types like yours on the right all my life. Never have used one of them there shim type things. No plans to either.
