Volar Brake Pads - Got them and Hmmmmm

Well first thing I notice is that one pad has wear indicators, and the other doesn't, which makes me wonder about quality control. Maybe they assume yu are going to replace them in pairs anyway, so only one side gets the wear indicator. Second is, the pad material on the thin side of the front pads is only 3/32" thick. What are yamaha or SBS or EBC's I wonder. These are 80SG carbon/kevlar pads.

Hey! I *just* installed that brand on my 78E a few days ago. Seem to work just fine tho. The pads really smelled bad tho. Mine were also missing the center "line" in the pad material.

Either way they were MUCH better than the ones I took off.

NO DOUBT they STINK like fish!!! WTF is that about? It was the mailing bag that reeked, I left mine out in the sun for an hour and the smell came off the packaging, but PHEW!! and I HATE fish!!! What did you think of the pad thickness? I don't have anything to compare it to? Glad they are working, I had researched other forums about them and people seemed happy.

If it is the front Special pads you are worried about, one side of each pad is supposed to be very thin.

          Hey Courtney,

I just checked a set of EBC pads I still had in the package, and the thin edge of the pad is a hair over 3mm thick, or 0.125"..1/8" !!!! And they are not slotted!!! HTH!

Many thanks TC! These are actually thicker than that, so maybe all is good! Appreciate the comparison!
