    Fugly Forks...

I had a set just like them and ended up getting a like new set from Andreas for cheap. Check with him.
I have also bought forks from Franks Engineering, they are a dozen years old and still look new, but they do not come cheap.

      forks just get them rechromed

I had the same issue with a Honda interceptor last year
put 2 sets in but ended up getting them re chromed because the steel is stronger on older forks and they kept leaking after 200 miles
cost me £165.00 it hurt the pocket but now its no trouble at all
The old ones are the best 9000 miles from new and rising
got a Honda VF1000f 1984 for the summer in the United Kingdom.Wow its Fast,Too fast for Me

1982 Xj1100J Maxim US Specfast keeps going
1984 VF1000F Interceptor UK need repair sticking pro link joint, off the road currently but in a newly built 17ft wooden garage, just got to finish it

Finished up replacing my seals and pads today. The front is holding air and not leaving oil on the tubes. We'll see how long before they start leaking again. It feels great to have air in them again!

I put the carbon kevlar pads on from this ebay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Front-Rear-C...9651bc&vxp=mtr

They look pretty good and have heard good things considering the price. The only problem when I tried to put them in is the hole in the pad is not quite right. I had to file down about 0.5 mm to allow the bolt to push through in the calipers.

Unfortunately, my rear shocks are leaking air and oil as well, so I'll be pulling them for another rebuild. I put new seals in them a year ago with the super helpful tech tip for rebuilding the XJ air shocks, but didn't do anything about the longitudinal scoring on the lower tubes. I'm planning to see if the scoring can be sanded/polished out, then replace the missing boots thanks to this post: http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37328
