  • Front Tire Installation - Standards Only

Once you get the front axle in and torqued and ready to tighten the two nuts for the front axle holder on the bottom of the left fork, you have to move the left fork in or out to center the caliper over the brake rotor. To free up a hand, you can use a wood workimg clamp to squeeze the forks together.

Nice example Wade but please put a plastic foot on that clamp!

The clamp is a great idea for those that have no friends either (you know who you are)

Lol thanks John. As you can tell I'm not too worried about it, the mirror finish on my fork tubes need a touch up.

I'll also note that its umportant that the speedo housing is ligned up properly with the boss on the fork leg.I don't want to hear about someone using this method and breaking the speedo drive housing. If your using more torque than you would to screw in a light buld then stop, verify the speedo housing it aligned and the pinch bolts for the front axle holdet are lose.

FYI, the special models require the same technique of needing to align the right side fork tube to center it on the rotor. Great tip for us friendless XSers. Thanks for calling me out John.
