Brake Pads - Which to Use?

Looking at brake pad replacement (front) on 81 Venturer. What brand and type is best for this application?

    Thanks, MP

EBC's will be fine. Front and rear use same pad on this model(and all year standards).

The EBC FA-34 Kevlar compound work great, nice and quiet, they do make a bit of dust on your wheels though. If you go with metallic compound, be prepared for some squeaking, they will stop a little better though. YMMV

Thanks motorman. There are several materials. They offer carbon Kevlar, organic, and semi-metallic. Which one would you recommend?

As was recommended to me on this site. I put ceramic SBS pads on my Special. I am very pleased. Ron Ayers got them to me quick and at the best price I could find.

Well I posted pictures of my SBS pads and how the rust broke the friction material away. Of course owner maintanence has to come into play, but really, how many of you take your brakes off to check anything other than the wear left?
Bone stock 1980 Special except for the exhaust and crashbars. Oh yeah, and the scabbard for the Winchester Defender.

I park in an insulated garage every night. If I travel on the bike and it has to sit outside, I cover it. Nothing is rusty.

                Semi-metallic on these rotors.

                  Appreciated

Hello bikerphil, motoman, and jetmechmarty, Thank guys to all of you for your much trusted suggestions. My decision on which pads to purchase is no longer a doubt in my mind. I can only hope that I can be as much help to you in the future as you have been to me in the past.

                  Many Thanks, MP

PS I know it's late in the day, but several of us are riding in the western NC mountains this weekend. If you want to join us, please head this way. Call me at 770-841-4093. We are staying at a house in Bryson City and have sleeping room for about 3 more people if anyone wants to stay overnight. It won't cost you anything to stay.

We are looking to go to the Wheels Through Time Museum tomorrow (Friday) and later on the Tail of The Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, etc. Forecast here is good through Sunday. We are here till then.
