I just got the bike running and rode it about 15-20 min to my new house. It was smoking a little bit every time that I would stop. I did spray the engine with Aircraft stripper to get the old paint off, so I thought that it was that burning off, but after that long, I would think that all of it would have burned off. I am not getting any oil leaks that I can see (other than a slight drip from the CCT) so I am wondering where there would be a leak that would just burn off and not drip?

Engine Smoke (Oil Leak)

If the smoke is coming off the exhaust it could be a leek from the oil pan or one of the side covers (or the valve cover and it's just finding its way down)Ty

Where exactly on the engine was the smoke coming from? Bottom, sides, head? Was it on the engine or the exhaust?? Where on the exhaust?Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

I had an oil leak from the engine covers. I was able to unscrew a few bolts and lift the cover a tiny little bet and put a little gasket maker. The leak stopped a few days after.
I was also burning oil for a while. My petcock where leaking gas and thining the oil. So instead of rebuilding the petcocks I modified them. Now the bike runs great.

I just synced the carbs and there were a few whisps of smoke, but nothing like it used to do, so I am thinking that there is an old gasket on the block somewhere that is leaking a little. I'll put on some gasket maker when I put in the ACCT and do the valves.79 SF 3H3 Engine, 145/45 Mikuni Jets, El Cheapo Pod Filter Mod w/ EMGO Pods, Coil Repower w/ Dyna Coils, Accell Wires and Side Gapped Plugs, 78 Mech Advance, 4-2 Turnouts
