So after many hours of testing and replacing or remanufactoring parts on the old BS34 carbs and still not being happy iv spent my pocket money on a brand new set of RS36 Mikunis. Has anyone run these on there XS before and can they give me some tunning tips or a starting point with the jetting, its starts and runs but not very well. I havent made any changes yet, just slammed them on.

I, for one am very, very interested in seeing the results you come up with. Cable-pull Mikuni round slide carbs work amazingly well for wide open air filters and exhaust from my experience.BARE BONES CHOPPERS: If it don't make it go faster, you don't need it!

I've seen a small handful of others that have switched to flat slides of one variety or another, but they rarely post specifics, or long-term results. Unfortunately, you are in the realm of trial and error, I'd say run it a few minutes at idle and check your plugs, then hold it open for a minute, and check your plugs... If they look brown, keep whatever jets are in there, if they're white, go up a size, black, go down a size. After any changes repeat plug check.BARE BONES CHOPPERS: If it don't make it go faster, you don't need it!

I dont have the jetting info, but mine was never quite right and definitely don't remember from 20 years ago. I had trouble with aligning the in-take boots. I had a push pull throttle back then and that took a while to get used to. Ran strong, but I never did get it set-up right. I do remember it being very responsive.
I also would love to see this be successful. I have a little time before I need carbs on my project bike.Gene (Florida)
