I have been chasing down the cause for a blown main fuse and it turns out that it is the field coil grounding all the way back to my main switch. I tested the continuity between the green and tan (disconnected from the RR) and that is 2.8 ohms but there is .6 ohms continuity between the green and ground and when I connect the wires to the RR it grounds out the main tan wire (.6 ohms continuity to ground). Do I have the two wires hooked up backwards? Is my RR bad? How can their be continuity to ground with the field coils disconnected from the RR? The bike runs, but I've already gone through two 30A fuses and I really need to have the bike able to make a 10 mile ride tomorrow.
Any ideas?
