One of the members has some things that need to be done and I'm curious as to what people feel are the priorities. He has good pictures to look at if you would take time and give your opinion, thanks.

    Hi 'guy,
that ersatz brake line gotta go. Had a CB450 that came with one just like it.
My first ever hydraulic braked bike so I knew very little but I knew that weren't right.
Even the stock Honda cloth-braided brake line that replaced it worked far better so I know that copper tube + hose clamp fix don't work well at all.
Don't sweat the broken footpeg casting. The back half has all the bolts that hold the pillion peg on and the front half is only a fancy spacer for the rider's footpeg.
Not that the designer who skinnied up the casting where it goes around the brake pedal shaft don't need his arse kicked.
There's a step by step XS11 resurrection chart someplace if someone could post a link?

Thanks, I was wondering about that. Other than being broken, which intrinsically bothers me, nothing seemed to be flopping around.

Can anyone advise if these are the stock bars for the bike? After some looking around, I'm thinking they might be special bars. I remember the PO said he had trouble replacing the clutch cable because the one he ordered was too short. It's possible he ordered the wrong one, but a discrepancy like this might also explain my spliced brake line. Thoughts?

        My bars:

Second picture is my Addie when ossjughead still owned her. So not much to add other than some have suggested Addie has old Goldwing bars. I find them quite comfortable. I did find rotating them slightly made a huge difference so try various positions before giving up on yours.

Thanks Phil, that is interesting. I will try adjusting these bars. I'm getting pretty darn close to rubbing knuckles on the tank at full lock, but I'll see what I can do. Looking at the pics again, I think the Lbrown311 bars are more similar to your Addie bars.

I've never quite got what they meant by the "pull back" measurement on handlebars. After reviewing the stock brochure photo, and the last one I posted, I'm starting to get it. You can see the slant backward, or "pulled back." Interesting. Anyway, I'm excited to hopefully start making some progress here.

One way of finding where to set your bars: With a friend standing beside the bike and the bike on centre stand.
Loosen the clamps and rotate forward and have your friend hold it there . then while you sit on the bike Close your eyes and place your hands out in space where you feel the grips should be. Friend moves the grips to your hands and while you hold it he tightens the clamps.
Takes longer to write this than do it
If the grips and your hands do not meet then you have an idea of what shape bars to look for.
