  • Saddle Bags Dont Fit!

    So I was wondering if there is a difference in the saddle bags between the 79 standard (which is my bike) and an 81 i think (i borrowed a set from scoot and i think he said they were from a 81. I went to put them on and the front mounting bar doesn't fit my bike. So I took the front mounting bar off the bags to take this picture
    I think the foot rest mounting brackets are stock so the only thing that I can think of is that they are different for the above listed models. in the pic it is the closest it would get to the foot rest mounting bracket.

    Yep, those are for the Specials and the '81 standard. The '78-80 standards use a slightly different bit. Most just build a small bracket to bridge the gap with some 1/4" thick steel strap...

      Yea that's probably what I'm going to do for now. I was just checking on the fitment, thanks Crazy Steve.

        yeah, my bracket has a small offset to fit behind footrest bracket...
