What is it about the #3 carb? All of my strangeness has occurred in the 3-hole. Is three unlucky in Japan?
The #3 carb is just notoriously evil........as it has to lead the other three.

What size bolt and tap were used to make the new float post? What size drill drill bit to make the hole for the float rod. Awesome repair, hope mine goes as well.
I cannot speak for what size bolt was used in this repair but you can use what ever size you like. Go to your local hardware store and buy a small assortment of bolts you think would work best. I'd suggest using a fine pitch thread as the tap drill size is closer to the OD of the threads on the bolt. Google "tap drill chart" to figure out the drill size for a given thread size. Be sure to use a small enough bolt so the remaining material in the post isn't comprised. The post isn't heavily loaded, its only holting a float so the bolt you need needs only be big enough for the pin through hole.
"What they do have is an implacable, unrelenting presence and movement that bespeaks massive power lurking behind paint and chrome. They don't wail like a screeching ninja, the don't rumble like a harley. They just growl like a spactic, stressed out badger waiting to rip your face off and eat your soul." Trainzz~RIP~
