Just swapped in a pair of Honda 1000 coils last night. Fired right up nicely. No time for a spin then so this morning I started it up and was greeted with backfiring from the pipes, won't idle (just winds down and dies), then hard to start, now no start. 
Pulled plug #1 and the spark seems weaker than I would imagine it should. I did remove the ballast resistor and connected the wires together. Anybody have any hints where I should start looking? (aside from the obvious of putting the original coils back in). I was especially careful in routing the secondaries and paid close attention to the primaries. Basically I an an electrical luddite so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. (1980 SG)
