  • Cam chain tensioner plug

The rubber plug fell out of the front of my cam chain tensioner some where on the road. The fact that me and the bike were both covered in oil by the time I got home was clued me to the missing part. Anyone know where I can get a new plug? Thanks.

The cam chain plug is #20, available from Yamaha, or you can clean the oil off the tensioner and put a glob of RTV on the end will also work.

Save yourself the trouble and just get an automatic ratcheting adjuster.

Yeah. Go to your local motorcycle wrecker and ask for a Venture cam chain tensionor. I got one for $20 last week. Very easy installation although I haven't checked the timing yet. Cheers, Doug

When I got my first SH, it had the rubber tip off a pair of crutches held over the end with a hose clamp. There was a quarter shoved in the bottom for stiffness I guess. It never leaked a drop.
