  • vaccume advance

I have fj1100 carbs on my bike and love them, and i am finally getting around to making them work wiith the vaccume advance. The only question i have is that i have read to put a jet in the line to make it work properly, but i know dont know what size or kind of jet to use. Any help woould be appreciated. Also for those that are familiar with my bike i have some baffles on order as well.

Any of the small Mikuni or Kiehn jets in the 40 range oughta' dampen the cyl. pulses. Just make sure whatever style jet used fits tightly in hose.

i replaced the vacuum line on mine because it had a hole in it, where exactly am i supposed to place this jet? i had no idea there was one in there in the first place...

There's not a jet in the original line, and you don't need one. I have different carburetors on my bike, that wasn't set up for the vacuum advance on our bikes, so the jet in the vacuum advance line, is something that I need to make it work with my carburetors.

I have tapped my Keihin carbs from a ZRX1200 and found the vacuum pulsing because it was nearly impossible to drill a hole small enough to act as a damper. I used an old pilot jet and screwed it right into this plastic fitting I used to connect the line to the carb.

Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.

There wasn't, the vacuum tube on #2 carb of the original Mikunis was already 'pin-holed' at its base.
