    Hi XSives !

I want my center stand back, don't like the 4-1 ! Like the Dunstall muffs ! If I get and old stock pipe set up can I put the Dunstall replicas on the stock headers and put my center stand back permanently ?
Thank You All ! Don };~)

Not sure what brand this 4-1 is but it runs under the bike ( leaves lots of room in the corners, who is going to lean an XS1100 that far ?) it gets in the way of the oil filter, has to be taken off to change filter and blocks the center stand from rising up far enough to make a corner.

        Hi Don,
the hard part will be finding a set of stock exhausts. Even rusted out ones are hard to find and should you have the incredible good fortune to find a good set don't you dare cut it up.
If you do the sea of hatred and contempt will wash ten years off your lifespan.
What you are most likely to find is a set with bad chrome and rusted out mufflers but with the headers still useable.
Those are f**ked anyway so yes, those you can use.
As with the XS650, each half is a weldment and you'll need to hacksaw the dead mufflers off.
If the rust goes back so far that there ain't any round pipe left to clamp a Dunstall onto you'll have to weld on a piece of exhaust tubing to replace it.
That's what I did with mine when the mufflers rusted out, except I used Triumph mufflers.

BTW, use stainless T-bar clamps instead of hose clamps, they grip harder and look far better.

          Hi Fredintoon !

Yes the head pipes are really what I'm after, don't care if I have to paint them stove pipe black.
When I had my 77 XS650D I had Mac pipes on with UMMM's anti reversion cones and the Dunstall replicas, they sounded so good I had bikers chasing me down to find out what bike it was, I would just say it's a Yamaha

I figure 4 cyl. and 2 muffs should make it sound like a small race car.

What Can I figure for $ on just the head pipes, give or take depending on condition ?

          Thank You ! Don };~)

            XSives,

Hope I done good, got the head pipes, ordered the muffs. Now I just hope it will all fit together ? ? ? ? Allow me to change my oil filter without taking off the exhaust and remount the center stand if I can find the darn spring ?
            Thank You ! Don };~)

I found the the "Extra Long" emgo mufflers from JCW fit good, sound good. They also offer a "Dunstall Replica". Center stand is retained. I did have to get rid of the crossover but to date I don't notice any difference in performance and the plugs are coming out good so jetting has not been necessary. I was able to use the OEM mounting points with some slight tweaking. Unless you have a eagle eye, its hard to tell the Emgo mufflers from stock. The first set of Emgo's lasted about 10 years. I recently replaced them cause the cheap chinese chrome was looking pretty bad.
              When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger

Those Dunstall Style as JCW puts it can be repacked, I used SS wool everything else burned out within 1K or so. I was able to keep them looking good with Never Dull during storage, we have a fairly long winter here in Wis.
The last two years I owned the bike I started rubbing down the muffs and all polished aluminum and chrome with Slick 50 One lube, ( spray can ) worked even better than Never Dull. It was also an exceptional inexpensive lube, close to Tri Flow but much less $.

Well the 4-1 is off and the 4-2 is almost done, here is the 4-1, should have done a video before taking them off for sound and running, oh well. I'll do one of the stock head pipes and Dunstalls soon !
