  • Steering bearing replacement?

On my 82xj1100 I took everything apart over the winter, (bearings fell all over the place) and somebody tols me I may be able to replace them with a standard cup/cone style bearing? Is this true and does anyone know what bearing number it is? I am familiar with SKF bearings and have access to just about every one there is so if I could do that it would be great.

          Hi Joe,
perhaps I'm mis-reading your post? I think it says you want to replace the stock tapered roller steering head bearings with cup & cone races?
          WTF?

            Steering head

I have in front of me a package from All Balls Racing. 05-761 and 22-1004 are numbers on the package. 60allballs.com
Inside the package are steering head bearings tapered.
My suggestion is the throw away the old and install the new.
Naturally I still have to install mine.
I spent a lot of time playing with steel balls ( CB750 issue ) in the steering head of my Reynolds framed Norton.
