    Pics first, questions later:

So, no questions from me, yet anyway, I have yet to really dig into it, the rear brake has 0 pressure buildup, but the front feels strong, as well as the head bearings seem nice n tight, I will probably flush out the front brakes and re-grease the bearings. The rear tire has a very slow leak, but doesn't appear to be sun cracked from my initial quick observation, but the main selling point was the exhaust, which aside from the tip of the baffles, is quite pretty and unmolested, so I think I will make up a kind of big sheet metal washer to weld into place and pretty up. But all in all, I think I will keep this one and either back burner or part out my sg cafe project, as its still in extremely rough shape. Oh and I also got the seat for the sf, but about all that's left is the pan, as the POs dog ate it lol, but it's not the only seat from my collection that needs redone, so I might try and get a package deal from a family friend that runs a tiny local upholstery shop... Anyway, let me know what y'all think!

Ok, here's a question for the XSive knowledge!
What kicker levers will go on the 11?
I have a really big one from a similar vintage Yamaha dirt cycle, and it looks like a no-go. First off, it's got the bolt that pinches the clamp, and the shaft on the 11 doesn't have a groove all the way around like the donor dirtbike did, so it looks like there'll be no way to get the bolt in, as it will be on the opposite side as the 11s flat on the shaft, and on top of that it seems like the shaft is bigger than the hole, but just barely, if I shove a screwdriver in the clamp, and give her h3ll, it looks to be just a few thousandths of an inch too small still to slip over the shaft... Which usually, a tight fit between hole and shaft is a good thing, as long as u have a little KY...
I tried the search and I wound up with 57 answers that didn't fill in my blank, so I figured I'd ask for just each person's input, what kick lever are you using, and where does it hit? I saw that the xs750 version will go on, but hits peg at the end of the stroke, how about a xs650 lever? Anybody using one? Or it too small too? I haven't looked too much, just poked around under the fuse box and didn't see a kicker, but I also want a swivel one to just leave on there, regardless of its practicality, or lack thereof... Worst case scenario I'll grab a Hardley one and machine the shaft square...

The 750/850 triple levers are what's generally used, but as noted they don't fit quite right unless you heat/bend them some (which destroys the chrome plating). Somebody found one off a Suzuki that fit, but didn't know the model/year so that's not much help.

The other thing to keep in mind is this bike really wasn't designed for a kicker. As furnished, it was 'emergency only' and the clutch sidecover doesn't have a bearing fitted for the shaft; it rides on the aluminum casting. Virtually every other bike Yamaha sold with a kick-start installed has a steel bushing pressed into the cover for wear. You can't fit a bushing to the XS11 as there isn't enough 'meat' in the casting to bore it out for one.

Oh I know it's just steel on aluminum, that is why I mentioned the questionable practicality. I think I might yank the cover and do the oil funnel hole drill mod, just for extra insurance, and so I can kick it when warm on occasion, just for fun, definitely not an everyday thing. And really, in theory, steel on aluminum isn't a bad bearing surface, as long as there is a tiny bit o' lube... Heck, Honda car cams run steel directly on the aluminum head, and they work great 99.9% of the time, kinda like Trojans... JAT... Thanks for the input Steve, you are just who came to mind when I mentioned the XSive knowledge! I might ebay search for Suzi kickers, and try to find one with a bit curvier shape... Thanks again man!

          Hey Dave,

If you find a lever that does fit better, please lets me know, since I hate to blue the chrome buy heating it up to bend one to fit.
          Thanks,, CZ
