Stuck with fixing 2nd gear

I need some help. I am following the directions for removing second gear. I have the right side almost done, just need to buy a bigger socket to remove the center nut. So I started with the left side and realized that I am not in 4th gear, I'm in 2nd and I can't upshift. Do I need to put the right side back together? Or is there another way to continue. Thanks guys.

Hey pshaw If you have removed the shift pawls ,the two meshing pieces that shift gears put them back in place with marks lined up and shift to 4 gear. Check the site for this info. ,it is there. Good Luck bkr

Hey pshaw You may have to rotate your engine a bit to get it to shift. bkr
