  • 1981H Vetter Fairing Identification

Just wondering if anyone knows what model of Vetter fairing was used on the 1981 XS1100H. This is the one I have:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...m=370622136114

I think it may be a Windjammer 5 but other documentation shows that it may be a Windjammer 2. I am trying to find a set of lowers to match it. The fairing serial number is 12225 and the hole to hole is approx 4 3/8". It sounds like some of the lowers are universal and can be made to fit any model with some minor modifications.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Doug

The WJ5's were designed a bit differently than the other WJ's.
The lowers for the 5's are definitely different than the other lowers.

the WJ2 has stalks for the blinkers:

and the WJ5: (sorry about the blurry pic)

The 81H's had a specificaly made for them fairing from Vetter. It was made to fit the headlight and turn signal lenses from the bike.

I would love a photo of the lowers if you could do that. Is your hole to hole 4 3/8" ?

That IS the fairing that came on the factory dressed Venturer(H) in 81'.
81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

            Hi Doug,
            Pictures first.

Hole C to C looked closer to 4 1/4 with bad eyes an old ruler and rubber inserts so probably 4 3/8

Craig Vetter told me that the Yamaha serial number Fairings for the 1980 and 1981 Yamaha's this like were his design and use the same parts and windshild but were actually made specifically for Yamaha after Craig sold the Company. They really are just like the Vetter but are Yamaha contracted with the new owner to make the Fairing and bags.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

I think I have some here. I can bring them to the swap meet if you are attending. I have to ask the guy I promised the bike too, but he is not really a fairing type guy.
