My No.2 slide descends quicker than the other 3 which are all pretty consistent. The only thing I can think of is the diaphragm has a pinhole, but holding it up to the light I see nothing. My next trick will be to swap springs, but I don't think there can be anything else that would do this besides the diaphragm or spring? The slide action is silky smooth on all 4 carbs, just No.2 is way quicker to drop down.

Make sure you are checking with the fuel enricher closed, with it open, they will drop much quicker. Maybe the #2 choke isn't closing all the way, JAT2H7 (79) owned since '89

Try
Using a small led flashlight under the diaphram ina dark room. If its got a pin hole it will show up easier.mack

enrichment plunger
If you verify the diaphram is good, Phil is right of course. Pull the plunger for that carb out, it's a 14mm socket on the big nut with the rubber seal on it. At the fat end of the plunger with the tip, you'll find a rubber seal. if part of that seal is missing or damaged it won't close and seal properly.mack

Ah thanks guys, didn't even clue in that the "choke" would affect the diaphragm. I will give that a go in the AM. Knackered tonight, sucked too much acetone and lacquer thinner today like an idiot. I thought I had my P95 filters on my facemask for organic vapors and instead had my particulates on. &*^&!!! son-in-law was using it last in his wood shop. My fault though, supposed to check this stuff. Shocks look good though! Tops all evaporusted so looking nice, clearcoated tops today, and sprayed the springs and body chrome. Reflector mounted and ready to go on after shock dries overnight.Bone stock 1980 Special except for the exhaust and crashbars. Oh yeah, and the scabbard for the Winchester Defender.

Found a tiny "crease" that shows light through the diaphragm, so found out why No. 2 slide is quicker. I'll now be researching on what's best to fix it. I remember using ultra-black RTV permatex on my friends about 5 yrs ago and it's still running great, maybe I'll use that.Bone stock 1980 Special except for the exhaust and crashbars.
