  • floatr bowl drain washer

OK i just got the bike running the other day and it runs great after installing the Pingel fuel valve.I sprayed some light oil on the carb choke lever shaft, and i think the oil might be running when the bike warms up onto the case below(starter). I put a rag underneath the carb bowl to make sure it was oil not gas as it is yellow in color. Are the float bowl drain washers available through a place other than bikebandit? It looks like they are aluminum,i could be wrong though. It is definitely not fuel though.I also sprayed light oil onto the manifolds to get the carbs to go in easier.

Silicone would of been the better choice, oil will rot the rubber over time.........JAT.

Your talking light spray like some WD40, that's not what is leaking when hot. +, the carb drains would be easy to see if they are leaking and I doubt they are. Look for something else and give us a better picture where this yellow stuff is comming from and dripping on

I hate doing pictures but here goes my best description.I used yellow fuel line 1/8" for my vent line and that's what color this residue is.It is on the starter plastic case cover bolt.I have black vent line OEM Yamaha vent line i will switch over tomorrow. It is not fuel.if i put my hand under the float bowls they are dry as a bone.

I went to my storage unit this morning and it is on the bottom of the float bowl and dripped on the bolt head of the plastic starter case.I'm thinking i used a float bowl gasket from MikesXS and its that or i have a slight crack in the float bowl.I see 2 scratches but they don't look that deep and if its fuel it is yellow in color.

Well i rode the bike from my storage unit to Moms house to work on it in the garage.I took the carbs off and removed the float bowl.I replaced the gasket and a bit better but still leaked some.I bought an almost new float bowl that the guy swears is for an SG but the holes don't line up.I tried to tighten the drain bolt but didn't want to break it or the float bowl. Finally i removed the old drain bolt, and replaced it with the new float bowl drain bolt.No more leak.I checked it several times and no drip whatsoever. Now my question-the aluminum washer for the drain bolt-what size and where can that be purchased? It is small like maybe 5 mm.

Just take one of your bolts to your local HW store and buy 4 brass or alum washers that fit it, you will be fine

Yes will have to do that. I got a $25.00 gift card to Sears Hardware so i will go there.I know its metric. The new washer and bolt solved the leaking issue.Bike is running great. The Pingel fuel valve had to be the best money I've spent on the bike so far this year.I just got a new AGV helmet so i plan on doing a lot of long overdue riding.

Oldyam80sg said he haf replaced the float bowl drain plug, but didn't state whete he located the part. I am looking for 2 of the brass float bowl drain bolts. I haven't been able to find them on the web. Have a xs360 with the same plugs and some @$$ hat used a vise grip to remove them apparently.

Have fun ordering from partzilla.. They have been NOTHING but trouble for me on parts I ordered over a MONTH ago. Nothing but the run around. Will be disputing it with Visa next week. I even told Partzilla that I will be disputing if I don't get my parts. They show multiple delivery dates, out of stock and future shipping dates regarding my $11 order.

Screw partzilla.. I'd look elsewhere for my parts.

Reminds me that I need to make my daily call to them and sit on hold for 45 minutes.

On hold now.. Circus music is fitting..

                          McMaster-Carr sells the washers

Got a bag of 50 of 'em, enough to last a lifetime. As a matter of fact, since I no longer have an XS, have TOO many. Any of you guys need 'em, send me your address and I'll mail you 4 of em.

Former owner, but I have NO PARTS LEFT!
