    Nice

find, the exhausts alone just doubled your investment. Sure looks a 79 SF to me. You'll need the 78/79 carbs. Welcome to the forum. Lots of reading for you to do, you'll find answers to almost everything you may need/want to do. Start with the brakes, they're very important on these bikes.

Welcome. You will like it here. I'm just getting back into things hunting for an XS right now myself. Found this place when I had my last bike 5 years ago.

Welcome to the forum. These guys are really great. Spend some time going through the forums and tips. Pretty much everything is covered.

By the way, YOU DONE GREAT for $300. These bikes are really a lot of fun. Learn to do brakes and carbs and it'll run forever.

I haven't even cleaned it yet that's how it was when I got it home. Will start working on the carbs in about two weeks hopefully. Then hope fully to get her street bound soon. I'm very excited and can't wait to get her riding.

Thats a 79 Special all right (or at least most of it) That was a steal. 300 bucks is what that exaust would sell for Speaking of that, it has run lean in the past, but I am quessing you will be rebuilding the carbs as you go. Great find Godd luck with your bike

Yeah I saw where the headers got a lil hot lol. Carbs are getting built first thing since the #4 carb float pin is already broken. I'll just rebuild em all and tune away. I am planning on runing pod filters and changing the exhaust I'll have to go to bigger jets as well.

Well, if you want / care about your bikes preformance, then your wasting your money and time. The stock exaust sells for big $$$ because it is the best preforming exaust for these bikes. Not saying you can't get a few more HP out of her with a few hundred dollars of add ons and some high level of skill tunning / jetting, with this type of bike, you can, but you have a 300 dollar bike, WHY Opps, I am wrong, that exaust is worthless, blueing and all, let me help you out. I will pay shipping to my house and kick in 50 bucks tward that high preformance stuff you need, just PM me and the money is on its way

                        Nice

I think you got a nice bike, and for cheap, you can sell the fairing stuff if you don't like it and be at 0 dollars For real, rebuild / clean the carbs as per the instructions here on the site. Replace the fuse box with Top Cats for 10 bucks, and I would install the Pingel in place of the octy fuel shut-off valve. The brakes are easy to repair, 1st, change your fluid and check the pad thickness. If they work fine, move on. If not, rebuild what is needed. Lube / adjust the cables, clutch / throttel. Change ALL the fluids OIL / Gear OIL mid and final. Chech all your bearings, trip tree, wheels. I think you got a real find, very little work and lots of fun. If it has been sitting a while, drain the gas tank before running (will save lots of time on the carb rebuild thing) Good luck with your bike and welcome, Lon
