  • 650 switches on 11's?

Does anybody know if the XS650 handlebar switches on MikesXS will work on our 11's? The OEM part numbers don't match, but I'm not sure what's different. I know that they don't have the hazard switch the 11 Specials have, but are the connectors the same? The price on those is really good, even for the chrome ones, and mine look old, worn and tired, so I'm considering picking some up and replacing mine. Has anyone bought any of them from Mike's and tried them out? ...Or know if the connectors are the same? I worry a little, because I have an XV920 (chain drive) that I'm trying to resurrect for a friend, but his brother lost the key, so I temporarily swapped out the ignition from my SG, which is identical except for the connector shape, so I had to dismantle it and swap the bases to get it to work. Did Yamaha make a lot of identical parts with different electrical connectors?

    Any info would be appreciated.

Well, yes and no. Some parts are electrically the same, but there's minor differences that prevents them from being plug-and-play swaps. The MikesXS switches will work, but you will have to make some mods to tie them to your XS electrical system. The wire colors don't always match, and you'll find different style plugs. As you've noted, they lack the hazard switch the 80-up bikes have. But lots of members have used those switches successfully, so it can be done...
