    Guys,

    I'm working to resurrect a 1978 E (http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...833#post402833).

I have a really nice spare set of carbs for my '79 Special and was wondering if they are just plug and play for the E. In the Clymer manual (p. 145) it would appear that the only differences are the model number and the pilot jet (40 in the E and 32.5 in the SF).

How would they perform if I just mounted them? If I swapped out the pilot jets?

As always, thanks for your help.

It's the starter jet that's different, and that's not replaceable in any case. So yes, no problems with swapping and rejetting won't be needed (unless you've changed other things like pods or aftermarket exhaust).

They should be fine, make sure they are internally clean and toss them on.

Hope you have checked your float levels, should be 1" with brass floats.

          Edit: Plastic floats; 29/32"

Both are with carbs upside down, from bowl gasket surface, gasket removed, to highest part of float bulb.
