  • #2 miss

bought a 79 xs1100 bout a month ago rebuilt carbs upgraded intake to pod filters and bike has a low speed miss on cylinder #2. idles and revs great lots of power but as soon as i try cruisin or get anywhere below 4000 or 5000rpm it sounds/feels like a cylinder misfires, its always had the miss new plugs installed #2 is dark black and sooty. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If it is sooty the the plug is firing usually. Look at the carbs.

Might try unscrewing spark plug cap, cut 1/4" off wire and screw back on. You could also try swapping wires 2 and 3 and see if the problem moves to #3 or remains at #2. Have you checked your valve clearances since you bought the bike?
