    I hope Scoot doesn't mind, but I borrowed 2 of his pics.

    I'm gonna drill out the 2 retaining bolts on my 80SG's timing plate and wanted to know about the size of the replacement bolts.



    Once the bolt is out, there's the 'guide' cup left over.



    Scoot used 6mm x 45mm bolts with washers, but I was wondering could I use a 6mm x 40mm socket allen head cap screw to fit down into the 'guide cup'



    He used bolts with washers on top of the 'guide cup':

    Your choice.

    The cups were there to keep someone from undoing the snap off bolts with a pair of vise grips, and since you don't need that feature, what ever you use to secure the plate from movement will be fine.
