I'm thinking my 80SG must have been an early one, because in order to see pilot air jets on the carb schematics, I have to look at a 79 schematic, and then it is only a 180. Mine is a 185 in my carbs. I managed to lose one while cleaning everything, and the parts guys can't find any mention of them. What's going on, besides the fact that I'm an idiot and lost one? Are they readily available? Anyone got one kicking around, because I'm getting the blank eyed drooling look from the parts dude???

Tell them you want Mikuni small round jet 185 size. The main jets are the large round.
When you remove the fuel bowl, and look at the pilot jet tower, is there a rubber plug over the pilot jet? Or, if you remove the main jet and emulsion tube, is there a crossover tunnel to connect the main jet emulsion tube to the pilot jet tunnel? Some of the early model 80 carbs had that crossover. But as far as I know, the jetting is all the same for all 80 model carbs.
Now just because your bike is an 80 model does not mean you have 80 carbs on it. It is fairly common for carbs to get swapped out.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

There were no rubber plugs over my pilot jets. I bought this bike from the original owner, so I don't think they were swapped. They also have the brass drain bolt in the middle of the bowl bottoms. My friends identical 80sg has a screw on the bowl bottoms that are on the side you unscrew to drain the bowls. What the heck have I got here?Bone stock 1980 Special except for the exhaust and crashbars. Oh yeah, and the scabbard for the Winchester Defender.

The brass drain is correct for a '80. The screw drain didn't come in until '81, so either his is that year (and there's little cosmetic difference) or the carbs were swapped.

Yep I've got the late style, with taller mixture screw towers, and I did pull their metal caps when I rebuilt them 5 yrs ago; I remember that. i also have the plastic floats. So at least that is good. So I need standard "small" mikuni jets? as pilot air jets in 185?Bone stock 1980 Special except for the exhaust and crashbars. Once you un-can a can of worms, the only way to re-can them is with a bigger can.
