  • Carb boot gaskets??

    Hi All,
I recently bought a good, (used) set of carb boots. I will need to replace the gaskets between the boot and the head tho.
I don't see it listed on the fiche @ Bikebandit, and the Dealers are not open today.
Anyone have a suggestion for a good source for these gaskets??

    TIA
    Mike

You can just use RTV to seal them to the head. After bolting them down, take your finger and wipe the excess off from the inside so there is no flow obstruction. There is no aftermarket gasket available, some have used Ford 2.3 thermostat gaskets that just require slight trimming, they are very close. I myself use no gasket, RTV only.

The last intake gaskets I made, I traced the outline onto gasket sheet. For the holes, I usually have scrap copper tubing lying around.
I use 1/4" tubing to punch out the screw holes - I use a round file and sharpen the edge of the tubing inside and out, then lay the carb holder over top of the sheet and put the tubing through each hole in the holder, then a quick smack of a hammer and you have perfectly punched screw holes.

I tend to just cut the center holes with a combination of sharp knife and small scissors. Making them yourself, you have the choice of material and thickness.

However, it isn't like you will be removing them from the engine very often (ever?), so RTV is definitely the easiest.
