i just won this on ebay for 24.99 plus shipping of 30.00
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/221187873331...84.m1439.l2649
just wanted to know if i got a good deal. i plan on on using this to replace the gears in my bike since i am in need of the dremel fix on my bike (when i get on it from a dead stop it will slip out of gear, but pop back in if i let off the throttle) with this set i should reduce the time of the repair, and will fix my current gears so that i can have an extra set.

55 bucks, I cant fill my gas tank on my car for 55 bucks, I can buy a carton of cig's but not a 1.75lt. bottle of Jack. So you got almost no money invested, if even some of the parts help solve your prob. congrats

      price

i was the only one that bid on it, i thought it was a mistake because all the others on ebay wanted almost three times as much and with just the gears. cant wait to get it in and get this tranny fixed. i mostly just cruise but like to get on it once in a while just to show some of these newer bikes what this old girl can do.

That looks like a good set of gears, nobody wanted to pay the high shipping, go figure. Should be able to resurface those and build a good tranny to swap in.

I think it's $55 in work just to get them out. Good deal, that being said I have two motors that still have them inside just setting in the garage.

Between a spare Starter clutch, all the gears, shift fork, shift drum, and bearings, I think you got a steal. Good find!!

Of course, I would still grind the gears before you put them in, and swap the washer. JMHO.

I snagged gears for $30 + 12 shipping a couple months ago, so I'd say you did pretty good with the extras.

                  yes

just got the transmission in today and it looks better than i thought. the second gear fix has already been done, and it looks machined not done with the dremel tool. how lucky can i get.

It may have new gears then. Mammie Yammie realized the error of her ways at some point and there are new gears with the backcut in them from the mfg. You may have those in that tranny.

As far as I have heard none of the bikes came with the back cut gears it was only after production replacement parts that were back cut.

Sorry If I misled you mark, the back cut gears are aftermarket/ post production only. They did not come up with or address the issue until after the bikes were no longer being made. Some of our more "vintage" members may be able to give more detail.

That looks like third gear, which was backcut on all the bikes from the beginning. Why they didn't do the others is a mystery....

That is a nice looking gear set...
