  • Front shock and arear shock air pressure

Can anyone tell me what the air pressure should be in the front and rear shocks? I appreciate this forum. New owner here.
Also, does anyone have a center stand spring? I went to get a spring from yamaha and they say they are no longer available. I have an 82 xj1100. thanks

By the manual, front shock pressure should be from 5.7 PSI minimum to 17 PSI maximum. I put progressive springs in my XJ and run no air pressure with this upgrade. Before that I ran 11 - 12 PSI. I have a Vetter Windjammer mounted, and weigh about 245.

Rear shock pressure ranges from 14 PSI to 57 PSI. I run 24 - 28 PSI. Have the Vetter hard bags mounted.

You can adjust the damping (rebound) on front and rear suspensions. Turning the damping adjuster toward 4 increases damping, turning toward 1 decreases damping. 2 is average. The adjusters are at the top of the fork tubes, one on each fork. On the rear the adjusters are a black thumbwheel on the top of each shock.

      Jerry,
Thanks so much. I appreciate it. I am going to try and get a pic of my xj1100 and make it my sig pic. Thanks for the info. Do you know of anyone that has a spring for the center stand?

        Big Dog,
I have a spring for an XS11. I think that it is the same, but am not certain.
I am sure that someone here can answer that.
If it IS the right one, it's yours for the cost of shipping.
Leave your address in the "personal message" area and I will get it to you.
