Mmatches, just out of curiosity, why do you have an avatar of Heinz Guderian?

Not sure where I got the set, it was a while ago. It has OEM 25025 printed on it. HERE is a possible source.

I started working on the 1979 and the shims are all over the place. There are three at 245, two at 240, one a 265 and three at 270. Is it common to find such variability of wear on valves in the same engine?

As for my avatar? He was a good professional soldier and a Prussian and pioneered the art of tank warfare. Although I loathe anything to do with Nazi's and the SS, many brave and skilled German soldiers fought in the war and perhaps we should acknowledge their sacrifices.

Yes, they usually are all over the place. When you re install the new ones be sure and put the numbers down.
