  • Valve Cover Gasket

    Replacing the valve cover gasket. My question is: when i'm tighting up the allen bolts, is there a patten i follow? Checked the manual but unable to find and info.

    Thanks for any advise

    No particular pattern, but it will be best if you start in the middle and work out...

      Alot of us do not use a gasket under the valve cover. I personally use Yamabond however there are alot of other products that work.

      Cover bolts are only supposed to be torqued to 7.5 lb/ft which is not much so be careful not to overtighten. I usually set the two bolts in the center on each side of the cam chain tunnel and then get the two at the front and rear of the tunnel. Then I do the exhaust wings of the cover using an X pattern until I get them all tightened. Then I repeat the same steps on the intake wings.

      If done with care you should have no runs, drips or errors.
