  • Venturer Luggage Rack Fitment

Anyone know for sure if a rack off a 81 Venturer will fit the 78 and 79 Standard models. I already know from 1st hand that it won't fit a Special, but I'm needing to know IF will it fit the Standard models from the earlier years?
Thanks for any insight into this...

I'm not sure if this will help ya but the rack in the following pics fits my '80G and also fits my '79SF.

1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
    1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
    1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
    1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
    1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

Yes, it will fit; all the standards (including the Venturer) have the same pick-up points on the frame for racks/sissy bars. The '79SF also has these same points. The '80-81 Specials have the rear points relocated, so those won't interchange....

Nice carrier rack Schming! That's an original, which came on the 81Venturer only(no taper 4bar with open ends and thumbwheels for adjustable backrest).
81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

Yes thanxs, 'tis very nice when it is coupled to this:

Which will be XSceptionally Nice coupled to my new acquisition:

And the reason I'm not going to be using it on the '80G:

Again, very nice! That backrest WAS the optional choice from Yamaha Accessories. I also have aquired the same one, and it was NOS still in the original packaging. Still have the original taller tapered one with the zippered soft case on backside. The lower one fits nicely in the recess of the Yammy tail trunk, and looks more fitting to the Venturer's lines.

I agree and had every intention of using it on the '80G but the K&Q seat pushed the trunk too far back and I still wasn't able to remove or replace the seat...so I had to find another Eleven it would fit on.

              Huh...runnin' wit the Big Dogs...500th post !!!

                Thanks for the Measurments

A big THANKS for taking the time to measure your rack and include pics,
maybe this will alleviate any questions perspective buyers have on my rack.
