  • Mike's XS FYI

Just received an e-mail from Mike's XS. They now "proudly" carry parts for the XS 1100 as well as many other vintage Yamaha motorcycles.
I guess that means no more sneaking parts from them pretending they are for a 750!

It's been that way since Mike Lalonde sold the business however many months ago it was. Maybe it's been a year?

            Excellent!!

Yeah, I have been buying from them since I brought the Scorpion home.

Most recently, I changed out my front master cylinder, to their low-pro one. It looks kinda funny, resting at the ganster angle on my bars, but it stops Scorpion on a dime!! Endos are not just for sportbikes anymore!!

Got some parts for my 80G just last week from MikesXS. One item was a front brake caliper piston (isn't listed for the XS1100, but is the same piston as the XS650).

They shipped it loose in the box, i.e. it banged around in there getting scuffed and dinged on the week long journey via UPS. I was very disappointed, however within a few days, MikesXS sent another one, should receive it early next week.

So, good marks for them and hopefully the new piston is not "defective".

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462

                Caliper piston update:

Received a properly packaged brake caliper piston from MikesXS the other day.

These are not listed in the XS1100 section on their website, but for the XS650. A little cross checking by another member indicated they should be the same piston as the 1100.

Based on my dial caliper measurements, they are the same dimensions, thus I now have a newly rebuilt caliper! I love it when a plan comes together....

Hope this info helps others looking for a replacement piston!

If it was a systemic problem with packaging, and they have implemented corrective actions, they wll have happier customers who will likely keep ordering from them. I am sure that there are customers that just keep what was shipped and formed a negative opinion about the company and some portion of those people will never come back.

XS 650 caliper piston is correct!

Update: After getting the 80G on the road, with the above mentioned XS650 caliper piston happily installed in the right front caliper, the brakes are good, no issues, leaks, etc.

This is the least expensive caliper piston I could find at $26.50.

I let them know this part was good for the XS1100 also, however they still do not list it for the XS1100. Go to the XS650 section and order it from there.

Just a heads up for those looking for a caliper piston.
